“Steve Gleason: A Football Life” Sneak Preview

A Football Life, Intern Files, Kevin Joyce, New Orleans Saints, Twitter

Just outside the Louisiana Superdome is a statue immortalizing perhaps the most revered moment in the stadium’s history with its home team, the New Orleans Saints. It captures Steve Gleason, former safety for the Saints, blocking a punt in the team’s return home against the Falcons, their first game back following the indescribably difficult period the area underwent as a result of the devastating effects of Hurricane Katrina. Underneath the statue a plaque reads, “Rebirth.”

Even since retiring, Steve Gleason has embodied that same indomitable spirit displayed in the commemoration of the play. His courageous battle with ALS has been much publicized, but you’ve never seen him quite like this, in this upcoming installment of “A Football Life.” Take a look:

Don’t miss this inspirational story, airing next Tuesday at 9/8c, only on NFL Network.

You can learn more about Steve and his cause, and help out in the fight against ALS at the Team Gleason web site.
