Over on our Facebook page, we received a request from Jordan in Fayetteville, NY, asking us to post a feature we produced on the winningest coach in college football history. That man is not Knute Rockne, Bear Bryant, or Eddie Robinson, but John Gagliardi, who in 64 years as a college coach, amassed a career record of 489-138-11.
Gagliardi, 86, spent the past 60 years at Division III St. John’s in Collegeville, Minnesota. At the conclusion of the 2012 season, he retired. Here’s a look back at our 1998 visit to this monument of unconventional methods, longevity, and success, as originally presented on NFL FILMS PRESENTS. Thanks for the post, Jordan…hope all is going well!
