On this date in football eighty years ago, the NFL’s first ever playoff game was held between the Chicago Bears and Portsmouth Spartans. Played indoors due to a major snowstorm, the game was also regarded as the first ever major indoor football game. Defensively, both teams remained dominant for three quarters until the Bears added a touchdown as well as a safety in the fourth quarter, defeating the Spartans, 9-0.
