On this date – December 6, 1992 – San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jerry Rice set a new NFL-record by catching his 101st touchdown. The Hall of Famer’s touchdown catch helped him surpass the previous career touchdown record of 100 held by Steve Largent. Rice needed only eight seasons compared to Largent’s 14 to reach the record-breaking mark.
