On this date in football seven years ago, Chicago’s Nathan Vasher returned a missed field goal for a 108-yard touchdown – tying for the second longest play in NFL history behind Antonio Cromartie’s 109-yard touchdown return. The Bears’ cornerback was able to maneuver the length of the field and into the record books with a few seconds left before halftime.
During his college years at Texas, Vasher obtained the nickname “ESPN3”, due to his highlight-making abilities. Vasher’s record return against the San Francisco 49ers was yet another highlight he could add to his reel. Here’s a look back at the play, as originally presented in “Week in Review.”
