On this date in football – October 26, 1993 – NFL owners unanimously selected Carolina as the 29th NFL franchise and the first expansion team since 1976.  When official word spread about the team, the city of Charlotte celebrated in jubilant fashion, knowing that finally their dream had become a reality.

The festivities continued three years later when the Panthers shocked the world by defeating the reigning Super Bowl Champion Dallas Cowboys in the NFC Divisional Playoff Game.  Here’s a look back at that game, as originally presented in “Week in Review.”
