TDIF: First Overtime Game in the NFL

Fifty-seven years ago today, on August 28, 1955, the first NFL overtime game was played during the preseason between the Los Angeles Rams and New York Giants. Three minutes into the sudden death period, the Rams scored, defeating the Giants 23-17. This game would open the door to many unbelievable finishes, including the first championship game to go into sudden death overtime.
