On this date in 1921, the American Professional Football Association – renamed the NFL in 1922 – granted J.E. Clair of Acme Packing Company a franchise for the Green Bay Packers. Although he would turn over the franchise a year later to a different ownership, Clair gave birth to a 13-time World Championship franchise – the most in NFL history.
