Adrian Peterson broke the NFL record for most rushing yards in a single game with 296 on this day in 2007 against the Chargers. He surpassed Jamal Lewis’ previous record by one yard.

In the same game, Antonio Cromartie tied the record for longest return in NFL history, when he took back a Vikings missed field goal 109 yards for a touchdown before the end of the first half.
