Look Ahead: It’s Ravens-Steelers Time Again

Baltimore Ravens, Nick Condit, Pittsburgh Steelers

As we get ready for a full slate of games on Sunday, the matchup I’m most excited about is the Ravens and Steelers.  These teams always play physical, especially against each other. Expect another last-man-standing type of game.

  • The Steelers’ speed on the outside will prove to be a challenge for a struggling Ravens secondary
  • Mendenhall typically has his greatest success in his first meeting against the Ravens:  last year, he had 49 carries for 174 yards and two touchdowns in Game 1, compared to 26 carries for 81 yards and one touchdown in Game 2
  • Ray Rice struggled to run the ball last season against the Steelers, providing only 52 yards on 17 carries but will provide the most value catching the ball out of the backfield

Below, take a look back at the last matchup between these AFC North rivals: the 2010 AFC Divisional Playoff, in which the Steelers ended Baltimore’s season.  Here’s how it was originally presented on Showtime’s “Inside the NFL”
