Tonight on NFL Turning Point: Saints Notch Huge Win

Sneak Peek, Turning Point

This week’s episode of NFL Turning Point kicks off with San Francisco @ New Orleans. A 23-20 game might not look like a defensive chess match, but it was defensive coordinators Rob Ryan and Vic Fangio that controlled this game. Ryan stacked the box and dared the 49ers to beat them through the air; limiting San Fran to less than 200 yards of total offense. While Fangio and the 49ers might not have had the same success on paper, they were able to get pressure when it counted. See how a controversial sack fumble resulted in a penalty, which proved to be this game’s Turning Point.

Richard Sherman might be one of the most unique players in the NFL. Few guys can match his elite talent on the field, but also his elite teaching skills off of it. Sherman never fails to entertain whether he is on the field or in the film room. Mic’d up for this game; see how Sherman and the rest of his “Legion of Boom-mates” have morphed themselves into one of the best secondaries in the NFL.

Top offense vs. top defense. The NFL’s top sack team vs. one of the league’s fastest gunslingers… In this week’s matchup of offense vs. defense, offense won. The Broncos were able to keep Peyton Manning’s jersey clean all day, preventing no sacks or QB hits the entire game. With the pressure on their offense to score with the Broncos, Alex Smith and the Chiefs failed to capitalize on a few big opportunities.

The Ravens v. Bears game featured Mother Nature at her best. A two hour delay turned the turf at Soldier Field into a mud pit. Faced with an early deficit, the Bears were able to overcome the slop and the wind to take control of this game. See how a mismatch late in the game proved to be the difference and left the game on the foot of Bears veteran kicker, Robbie Gould.

Coming into the season, Nick Foles and Chip Kelly did not seem like a match made in heaven. Foles was known as a conventional pocket passer, while Kelly had his greatest success at Oregon with a dual-threat quarterback. However, both of these guys have proved it’s never fair to judge a book by its cover. Both wearing wires for this week’s game, see how Chip Kelly continues to run a high octane offense, even when his quarterback isn’t the fastest player on the field.

Catch all this, tonight on NFL Turning Point at 11/10c, only on NBC Sports Network.
