TDIF: Washington Put Together Giant Performance

New York Giants, TCIPF Staff, This Day in NFL History, Washington Redskins

On this date in football – Nov. 27, 1966 – Washington set an NFL regular-season record for most points scored in a 72-41 victory over New York.  Led by quarterback Sonny Jurgensen and his three touchdown passes, Washington’s offense accounted for seven of the ten touchdowns while the defense and special teams scored the remaining three.  It was a game where both teams set records with 16 touchdowns and 113 total points.

Washington hopes to replicate the same dominant performance as they take on the Giants this week on Monday Night Football in an NFC East battle.  Here’s a look back at Washington’s impressive record-setting feat in 1966.
