Today, June 29, 2012, former Vikings running back Bill Brown turns 74 years old. Brown was drafted by the Bears out of Illinois in 1961, but after one year in Chicago, was traded to the Vikings. He played for Minnesota the next 13 seasons – including in three Super Bowls — earning the nickname “Boom-Boom” for his aggressive, explosive running. Brown holds the club record for rushing attempts and for games played by a running back. He has the 4th most rushing yards in team history and is a member of the Vikings Ring of Honor.
As we send out birthday wishes to Bill Brown today, here’s a look back at him as originally presented in 1984 on NFL Pro Magazine.
