After Andrew Luck was drafted first overall out of Standford, we posted a poll on our Facebook page for you to vote on which Pro Football Hall of Fame Stanford graduate would be featured in our next “Profiles in Greatness” post. John Elway won with almost 85% of the vote! Elway is one of only three players who attended Stanford University in the Hall of Fame.
Elway was drafted by the Baltimore Colts as the first overall pick in the 1983 draft. He was immediately traded to the Denver Broncos and was destined to be the savior of the franchise. During his playing career, he led the Broncos to 5 AFC Championships and the franchise’s only Super Bowl victories (XXXII and XXXIII).
