Indianapolis is in the midst of a rebuilding process that will remake their roster, front office and coaching staff. It’s a transition that every team goes through periodically, in which franchises turn to new stars to thrill the home fans.
In 2012, the Colts will likely build around a quarterback chosen early in the draft, just as they did fourteen years ago by selecting Peyton Manning. But selecting college quarterbacks is not the only way to build a team. Eleven years before Manning was picked, Indianapolis traded for a veteran star running back and made him the centerpiece of their offense.
