Arguably the biggest story of the NFL off-season is whether Peyton Manning and the Colts will soon sever the union they consummated on this date eight years ago.  It was then, March 2, 2004, that Indianapolis signed Manning to a 7-year, $98 million contract.   

2004 was one of Manning’s greatest seasons, in which he threw 49 touchdowns in just 15 games to break Dan Marino’s single season record of 48 touchdown passes.  Here’s a look back at the day Manning broke Marino’s record, as originally presented on Inside the NFL.
