Coaching legend Bill Walsh was born on this day in 1931.

As the innovator of the “West Coast Offense”, Walsh led the 49ers to three Super Bowl championships. Notable NFL coaches that trace their coaching lineage back to Walsh include Mike Holmgren, Andy Reid, Jim Fassel, Dennis Green, Tony Dungy, Jeff Fisher, Mike Shanahan, Jon Gruden, Mike McCarthy, Brian Billick, and Steve Mariucci.
